don't know about the origins of ruude, sadly. i like to think they're from my old stomping grounds, jackson, miss. they do namecheck my former hometown in the tune, after all, and the 12 was distributed by jackson's classic malaco records, so the chances seem good that they were cruising fortification street with the windows down just tryin to stay cool in that summer of '85. it's just too hot!
